NOON KNIVES is a rich medley of Porter's singularly potent abstract compositions accompanied by significant quotes of poets, philosophers, observers and novelists influential in Porter's life and work.

Katherine Palvis Porter is a major female abstract painter from the 1970-80's. Porter is one of the few female artists to gain commercial success and recognition on par with her male contemporaries at a time when women were less respected in the arts. Porter's work has proven very influential in successive decades. Her work is in the following major museum collections; i.e.: Solomon R. Guggenhei, Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute in Pittsburg, PA; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; and Walker Art Museum, Minneapolis, MN. Porter lives in Montreal and Nova Scotia and continues to produce vital work. Her first major book in 15 years is co-authored by Lydia Csáto Gasman and John Yau.

Gasman, professor emeritus at University of Virginia, is also leading Picasso scholar. She received her PhD at Columbia University working under Meyer Schapiro. John Yau is a well-known New York art critic, prize-winning poet and author of fiction. He teaches at Maryland Institute College of Art and Bard College, Graduate, Master of Fine Arts Program.
